Trendwatch: Papal Edition

1. Religious trinkets, medals, posters, etc. of the sort that are all over the place in Rome will appear in street venders' stalls in NYC, right next to the counterfeit Livestrong bracelets.


2. Over the next several months many babies will be named Karol/Kar'l/Karl or some variant on John Paul.


3. Fall's trends in outerwear will include ecclesiastical details -- all those buttons down the fronts of the albs, that capelet that the pope wore. However, the chausible will not displace the poncho.
