Band of Brothers-in-Law
No one except family would drop by at 4am looking for a place to stay for the night (or what's left of it).
Sunday morning Homeless Relative's younger son, Beckett (whose blogspot blog is at the subdomain smarterstronger -- don't tell him I sent you), and his younger brother (who does not yet have a clever internet pseudonym) stopped by on their way down from Brooklyn to rendezvous with their older brother for a week-long hiking trip in the middle of nowhere (I am imagining scenes from Deliverance.). As you would expect, whenever two hip, 20-something, New Yorkers (while they may live in Brooklyn, they both work in Manhattan) come to visit, it is imperative to take them to the Waffle House. Who knew hash browns could be so comical!?
They simultaneously made fun of the South while pointing out how much better it is than New York. You can see the horizon here. The widening of I-40 is just a minor inconvenience compared to the construction snarling traffic on Staten Island. Store clerks here are friendly. Cigarettes are so cheap!
I would move to New York in a heartbeat if it weren't so darn expensive.
They'll be passing back through here on the 9th or the 10th, they think. No word yet as to what time they might be arriving.
