Optional Is the New Mandatory

I'm organizing a series of meetings on Monday and leading one of the meetings. Nine people should be coming to my meeting; they have know about the date since before Thanksgiving. So far this week three of them have emailed me to say that they can't make it.

I have been reduced to sending a terse email about scheduling a make-up meeting.

I feel like I'm dealing with freshmen.
