Scene from the Neighborhood

I was going to rant about the newspaper coverage of the NCLB testing that went on this week in the local schools. Probably you can guess the gist of what I was going to say. (Hint: the tests are crazy-easy.)

Instead, I provide a photograph of an embankment. Before the freeway cut through my neighborhood, requiring 5th Ave to be elevated to snake its way through ramp spaghetti, this street used to go through. Now we have limited pedestrian access to 5th Ave via the very awesome stairs. As a bonus we also have a Virgin Mary in a bathtub. I checked. It is a real bathtub (formerly clawfoot) buried in the dirt.
