The Birds In My House

Upon further exploration of the plaintive chirping noises, two live birds, one dead bird, and half a nest were found in the basement at the bottom of the chimney. Fortunately for the surviving chimney swifts, the chimney -- like much of the rest of the house -- isn't in great shape; it is missing several bricks down in the basement, leaving a gaping hole through which birds can be extracted. The birds are now in the care of a licensed wildlife rehabilitator who will take care of them until they can fly and will release them into a wild flock.
