Not Optimistic
The gen-ed class that I teach at 8am on MWF? The one that started one week ago today and that has met three times now?
There are 38 students enrolled in the course. Four of them have not yet come to class. An additional three were absent today, and four more students were late.
The first homework assignment was due today. It was a worksheet that I handed out on Friday. It had a list of vocabulary words that will appear during the semseter (things like "prime number"), and the students were asked to look up three of the terms in a dictionary or encyclopedia (paper or online) and to write up definitions of the words.
Want to guess how many students turned it in? Eighteen.
