### From the Exam

Gave an exam today in my gen-ed class. Haven't yet graded it.

One student came up to me in the middle of the exam in a panic because she forgot her calculator. I told her not to worry about it and just do her best; I said that if a calculation was too complicated to do by hand, then just set it up and explain how she'd do the problem.

Looking at her exam, I see that she felt that 10.1 divided by 5.2 was too complicated to do by hand.

Doesn't really surprise me. One question on the exam required the students to calculate 3 + 1 + 6. I saw her counting on her fingers.
