Possibly Stupid on my Part
Instead of asking to teach a 35-student section of calculus for enigneers (either Calc 1 or Calc 2), I have asked to teach a 250-student large-lecture of business calculus.
Both count for the same number of "teaching points" for calculating teaching load. The engineering calculus meets 200 minutes a week, never has TAs, and rarely has graders. The business calculus meets 100 minutes a week with the lecturer and 75 minutes with the TA. The TAs grade the quizzes and help grade the exams.
I think, secretly, that my motivation is that the large lecture hall has more technology toys to play with.
