Tales from the Chaos

Regular readers will not be surprised that my summer job -- like my regular job -- is more administrative than research-based. The past two days has been a flurry of having dozens of people met at the airport, collecting deposits and receipts, giving out meal cards and packets, giving directions around a campus where I only arrived 5 days ago, holding meetings with the rest of the staff, delegating and following up on assorted tasks, and submitting work orders. I am so busy that instead of buying things that I forgot at CVS, I am ordering them online and having them shipped. Saturday night I worked until 1am. Sunday I got up at 5:30 and resumed work straight through until 11pm.

Yesterday I was too busy to eat. Had some yogurt for breakfast. Yogurt and fruit are among the very few foods in W20 that I'll eat; W20-575 is the best place for me to print, and printing is one of the few reasons why I leave the office. Skipped lunch and dinner because I was just too busy.

This morning I had time for breakfast and almost didn't go. Not eating is hardest at the beginning but then it gets easier; I felt like I was off to a good start. But reason won out and I decided that I'm too important here and that if I pass out that I will become one of the problems instead of solving them. Had some yogurt and fruit.

Debating what to do about lunch. I think that I have my announcement sheet for the afternoon just about ready. In theory there's time, but I'm not sure if I want to go.
