How Time Flies

I'm absolutely shocked to find out that my time here is half over. I still haven't made it to Harvard Square. I still haven't walked along Mem Drive to see if the geese are there. (Geese! I love waterfowl!) On the bright side, it has kept me out of trouble. No ridiculous and inappropriate presents are planned for my friends with July birthdays.

It also means that I'm too busy to post incriminating things on my blog. Checked my stats this morning and found hits from machines with IP numbers inside this building. Too bad I couldn't tell where in the building, as that would give me a better sense of the sort of details to include. Probably I should just assert that everyone here is super and amazing, and I never have any complaints about anyone. The folks in C are kind and patient and are showing us fantastic hospitality! The other group that has invaded for the summer joined us for a fabulous event last night! We are all responsible neighbors sharing a wonderful space! We always clean up the common kitchens, especially the one on the 4th floor! We have scheduled events way the fuck over in frickin' EC to keep from bothering the people who are here full time!

(No, really, faux sarcasm aside, I really do have nothing to complain about.)

(Except that my phone doesn't work unless I take the screen out of the window and aim the antenna just so.)

(Speaking of IPs in this building, the Wi-Fi here is on crack. The DHCP server keeps trying to give me IPs in 192.168.* and not in 18.*. My laptop is back on the net, but my phone is sulking. I need a more powerful version of "renew lease.")

(I guess all my complaints could be lumped into "telecommunications infrastructure.")

In other news, in the past 24 hours I have written nearly 4000 words on my new project. We'll see how long I can keep up this pace. The more that I get done now, the less I have to do while teaching three classes, supervising an independent study, and working in the advising center.
