Catering to My Fan Base
Today's rationale for going shoe-shopping: it's work-related because many of the students who post comments about me on Rate My Professors decide to praise my shoes.
The larger question: How much back-to-school shopping should I do today? Just shoes? Or a full-fledged trip to the outlet mall for a more complete wardrobe update? This is important, as teaching a 250-student lecture class is as much theater as it is anything else, and I need to be well-dressed to put on a good performance.
