Tales from the Queer Starbucks

I'm in grading exile, out at Starbucks (no free wifi) with a stack of exams, a red pen, and my phone (unlimited EDGE for Internet emergencies).

My city is not exactly a hip and open-minded place. We don't really have an arts and theater neighborhood. Middle aged Christian ladies hold a monopoly on over the top hair and make-up, not drag queens. The only bookstore worth going to in a big chain. one yarn store stocks little other than acrylic in the local team's colors.

Maybe there's hope for this to seem more like your typical college town. Looks like the gays have started to invade the Starbucks.
