Kids These Days
Today I gave a calculus exam. One of the questions asked the students to calculate something with a definite integral and then round their answer to two decimal places.
The "exact" answer was the square root of 3. Many, many, many, many students asked me -- during the exam -- how they could convert this to a number rounded to two decimal places.
Get this -- They all had calculators and couldn't figure out how to get their calculators to provide a decimal approximation of the square root of 3.
