As part of the massive construction project going on near my neighborhood, this week they closed a little over two miles of one of the country's major east-west interstates. It should re-open in a little over a year. Even though it's only been closed for less than a week, they've already made a bunch of progress taking down the bridges that held the old roadway. (In the picture you can see the newly-constructed lanes at the top; I think that those will eventually be the eastbound lanes of the freeway.)
