Instead of Getting Ahead on My Work, I am Being Tech Support

It won't boot off the hard drive. It won't boot from Install 1 when I hold down C or D. It booted from Install 1 when I held down option and choose the optical drive. I ran Disk Utility and repaired the hard drive. After that, it wouldn't boot from the hard drive or from Install 1 (no matter what keys I held down).

Fortunately, it is not mine.
