The Apple //e, Enhanced

If you were an early adopter of the Apple //e, then you had to swap out some ROM to upgrade to an Enhanced //e. Early adopter of an Apple product? No idea where you would find one around here.

Apple helpfully provided full instructions on how to replace the ROM. (Clearly it was the other Steve who thought that people should be able to change their ROM.)

Notice that step #6 says that you should save the old chips and put them away.

Over 20 years later, the old ROM is still safely nestled in its anti-static foam. I'm still waiting for directions from Apple as to what to do next. Clearly we are saving the original Apple //e ROM for a reason.
