I Need a Better Example to Explain Small World Networks
On Tuesday in class I'm going to talk about small world networks. Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon and all that. I tend to work this into just about any of the classes that I teach on "whatever I feel like talking about to honors students." And normally it's pretty easy for me to come up with links to them--especially if I can view their Facebook profiles. You went to Mathcamp/AwesomeMath/etc.? One of my summer students knows you.
So far the only connection that I'm aware of in my current class is that the mother of one of my students is a nail technician who gave me a pedicure.
