  1. Stu has been trying for weeks trying to get a transfer course to count towards the math requirement. The registrar people gave Stu no transfer credit at all for the course. Based on the course description and syllabus, this course seems roughly similar to our College Algebra course, and I told the student that I could write a letter to the registrar's office saying as much. This doesn't help Stu, as College Algebra doesn't fulfill the requirement that Stu needs filled. Stu was hoping that I could get the algebra course to count as Calculus Lite. Stu's reasoning: Our catalog description of Calculus Lite is something along the lines of "Calculus of polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions, with applications" and Stu's algebra class's description was "Polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions." Those are almost exactly the same! Except for the whole calculus part. Oh, Stu is a senior planning a December graduation. Aren't advisors supposed to catch this sort of stuff?

  2. Stu is upset with the way that math class is going and emailed a long description of the problems. Stu then follows up asking me not to do anything about it.

  3. Stu has very important concerns about math class and needs to meet with me. Stu can not reveal these concerns over email. It must be during a meeting.
