Wrapping Up the Week

My students have no idea that they will be watching a movie in class this afternoon, as I am out of town. Today is the meeting that will take that stack of applications that I've been whittling down and cull it ruthlessly to far, far, far less than 10% of its orginal size. I'm not sure how big the first-run pile was, but I'm guessing it was large enough that the acceptance rate will be less than 5% of the entire application pool.

I am staying in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Either someone has a budget to spend down by a certain date in the near future or else someone likes me more than they used to. It used to be that the best I could hope for was a Holiday Inn off the beaten path.

Now that the assignment is due in the very near future, my CS group wants to meet. Sorry, guys, I'm out of town. When the assignment was first announced, I sent them a pdf of my calendar through the due date, so they should have known that I was going to be out of town. We'll see how this turns out.

Had two meetings this week about potential new job and one more next week. Potential new job sounds pretty awesome.
