Requests We Can Say Yes To

A failing student has just gotten in touch about a medical situation that has just occurred. This medical situation is likely to be verified by medical professionals and seems likely to leave Stu unable to take the final exam next week.

Stu writes asking, "Can I be excused from the final?"

I think that the answer to that is "Yes!" My understanding of excusing someone from the final is that whatever the grade the student has going into the final -- in this case an F -- is what the student will receive for the course.

I will go so far to say that all failing students can choose to excuse themselves from the final and to accept whatever grade they have as of today.
