Graphing

Sorry to all who have already seen this on Twitter.

In R there is a type of graph called a violin plot. Opinionated people on the internet insist that it is clearly superior to a box plot.


  1. Is "violin" really the first word beginning with V that you think of when you see this graph?

  2. Would you really put this graph in a scientific paper? (Even if it weren't pink?)

  3. Are you tempted to cook up a skewed data set so that the median (the dot) is further away from the center of the plot?
