As the Next Calculus Exam Nears, I Grow in Popularity
- Yesterday I wore the boots to school. One of the guys in my calculus class came up to me after class to tell me that he really liked my boots.
- A non-traditional student in my calculus class (he's making a career change to become an engineer -- got to be at least 10 years older than me) has been stopping by my office a lot. He doesn't seem to have any real questions about the material.
- Students are starting to write notes to me on their homework.
- My email inbox fills with questions from students.
I've decided to make a decent fraction of the exam multiple choice. Why should I spend a lot of time trying to decipher their bizarre attempts at integration when I can anticipate their errors? Maybe I should find a way to work a natural log choice into that first question (because the natural log has magical reciprocal power). Hrm, I should probably change the limits so that it's not an improper integral.
